    Marriage Week Day 3
Geschreven op vrijdag 12 februari 2010 - door: Peter Vlug

Everywhere in Switzerland and in 12 other European countries, in restaurants, churches, by youth groups and through private initiatives, young couples are offered a pleasant evening or a romantic gatering. The Marriage Week Web site, www.marriageweek.ch, lists 45 beautiful Swiss initiatives, all aimed towards this one goal: supporting couples to make a good start at, or to continue, fighting for a steady relationship.

Why is a marriage so important? Because it such great illustration of a very crucial spiritual concept. Let me explain this. If you want to know how much Christ loves you, then just look at the example of how much Romeo loves Juliet. He gave his life for her, like Jesus did for you.

If a man loves his woman, and when the woman obeys her husband, they set a clear example to their relatives, friends and family of Christ's love for them. The love between a man and a woman can be compared intensely with the love between Jesus and His church. The Bible speaks about this as a secret truth or a mystery (Ephesians 5:32).

So what is this secret? It is that a couple of believers can show Christ's love for mankind by loving one another. Divorce blemishes, even ruins the picture of Christ's love and loyalty for you and me. One can get to know King Jesus not only by reading the Bible, but also by how two partners in a couple love one another. This is how your friends can learn about Him too!

Last night we prayed in a little church high up in the Swiss Alps in Adelboden for all those Swiss couples who want to build a family; a house of love and peace; a place where you can get to know Christ. These young people need our faith and support for this great mission, and we prayed a blessing over them. Building and supporting families is one of the most important things to do.
